Jasen was born and raised in the Silverlake area of Los Angeles and LosFelizToday.com had the honor to speak to Jasen privately and find out more about his background and his thoughts in regards to this passion and the one of kind artistic talent he has cultivated….

“Art and illustration has always been in my blood.  Growing up in the Silverlake area of Los Angeles, I remember a very different neighborhood than that of the Silverlake of today.  It was a rougher part of town back then, and a lot of people who lived there (my family included) didn’t have a lot.  We also had to contend with an environment that wasn’t as safe or secure compared to the Silverlake of today.  While I was growing up, comic books were a gift from my parents that I always enjoyed that they didn’t have to worry about not being able to afford.  From that exposure, to dynamic, fast-paced artistry, I began to learn and perfect my craft.  Illustration was always a positive and inspiring outlet for me, and with every new artistic accomplishment I was driven to top myself and always find a way to shine even brighter. By the time I was in Jr. High School, I knew this was what I wanted to do with my life.

Sci Fi Hi is an extension of that passion I developed at a young age. It’s a project that’s very close to my heart, just as much as when I first conceived of the idea as it is today.  I wanted to tell a story that was epic in scope, with smart and intelligent characters, but at the same time appealed to my appreciation of kinetic action.  It’s been a quest for perfection with Sci Fi Hi, because it’s not enough for me to just put something out there that I know will attract an audience.  It has to be something that not only markets well, but has to inspire.  Inspire the traditional comic book fans, the occasional reader, and even a random person off the street just by looking at it. But most importantly, it has to inspire me.  And because of that, it’s hard for me to reach true satisfaction, because after I clear what seems to be an insurmountable hurdle, I just want to challenge myself to even bigger heights.”

Jasen’s work has  been used in pop fashion and counter culture publications as well, underscoring his revolutionary ideas. Sci Fi Hi drives new creative ideas into pop cultural icons for the new millennium and leads trails that had never been considered for entertainment.
