Kate Walsh Seeking Exemption for Property Wall

Earlier this month, Kate Walsh’s request (Private Practice) for a wall and shrubbery beyond neighborhood limitations and compliance may be denied. The actress states she would like to add more shrubbery and privacy to limit access by paparazzi. The Greater Griffith Park Neighborhood Council’s (GGPNC) Planning, Zoning and Historic Preservation (PZHP) committee has recommended denial of Walsh’s request, due to several of her neighbors’ opinions that a taller hedge and wall will actually cause more danger than good. Neighbors claim a taller wall and shrubbery will block views of pedestrians on sidewalks and drivers coming out of driveways. The city is worried about setting a dangerous presedent by allowing such an exemption for “no good reason”. This request was submitted after photos of her house appeared on the internet, without her permission. Kate Walsh lives in a 5-bedroom, 6-bath house which she bought in July 2007 for $4.75 million. Her 5,800 square foot Spanish-style home in Los Feliz has a media room, a wine room, a pool house that includes a spa and its own bar. The rear grounds are complemented by an outdoor fireplace, free-standing hot tub, outdoor cooking center, and al fresco dining area, all within walking distance from Los Feliz Village.
A final decision on her request is expected in about three months. I love having her here!

Let her do whatever she wants! She’s awesome and paparazzis are idiots! I bet it’s so annoying not having any privacy with them following her everywhere and taking pictures of her house. A taller wall and a bit more shrubbery won’t hurt anybody!
If a wall and shrubbery is blocking the view of driveway, then it could hurt someone. I hope nobody is killed because of this idiot, Walsh.

she’ll do like so many stars do …fizzle out …then move out to cheaper . or blow up in popularity and …move out to more expensive . then we are left with having the higher walls left up .. and shrubs so thick you cant see joggers with runalong baby strollers who seem to pop out of nowhere as it is .. .

Kate has offered a compromise. The council should be open to it. Celebs buying houses in Los Feliz adds to the area’s exclusivity and helps property prices. It would be madness to not welcome them.
