Let the Wine Flow…Covell Wine Bar – Opening Soon in Los Feliz

The driving school on Hollywood Blvd and Vermont is scheduled to become the 1,100 sq ft. Covell Wine Bar, headed by Dustin Lancaster (Cafe Stella) and Matthew Kaner(Silverlake Wine). Covell is focusing on quality and intimacy; serving boutique wines and about 20 craft beers (and bottles “to go”). The idea is to support local West Coast breweries and small production wines. Wines will run about 5$-12$ a glass. The rotating wine selection will include “anything and everything, whatever we like,” Kaner says. “I’ve been doing this too long to discriminate; there’s great wine coming from everywhere.”
The venue will not have a full kitchen, but rather menu a few cheeses, olives, pate, and snacks from Heirloom LA chef Mathew Poley.
In addition, they have started a small production brewery and are planning to also start brewing in Los Feliz in the summertime. The working name is currently District 13, a nod to councilman Eric Garcetti’s district.
