Health Dept Shuts Down, Nathan Fielder’s “Dumb Starbucks”

Today, Nathan Fielder from Comedy Central, announced himself as the CEO of Dumb Starbucks, with sarcasm. In a successful effort to generate publicity, Fielder stated he always wanted to own a business, was a big fan of the chain and wanted to emulate it without infringing on their copyright. He was planning to stay open and had not heard from Starbucks regarding any cease and desist.

“LOVE is a Warm Blanket” Warms the Heart & Souls of Homeless!

The 2nd Annual “LOVE is a Warm Blanket” Drive for the Homeless aims to warm up the lives of the less fortunate during this cold time of year. A local resident, Angela Amirkhanian, 26, founded and launched “LOVE is a Warm Blanket” in 2012 as a simple act of goodwill. She received donations from friends, family and supporters from various social networking forums. Larger blankets and comforters were donated to the Union Rescue Mission, a homeless shelter in Downtown Los Angeles’s skid row.

Public Hearing on Glendale-Hyperion Complex of Bridges Improvement

The City of Los Angeles and California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Friendship Auditorium, 3201 Riverside Drive, Los Angeles 90027, to provide information and receive public comments about the Environmental Document for the Glendale- Hyperion Complex of Bridges Improvement Project. The public is invited to attend.
The project is located on the Glendale Boulevard and Hyperion Avenue bridges between Ettrick Street and Glenfeliz Boulevard.

Free Shakespeare in the Park…OPENS TONIGHT!

To be ..or not to be…that is the question? For “Los Felizians” its a no-brainer! The Independent Shakespeare Company (ISC) brings the passion of the classics to the park for free. Since 2010, when the company moved their festival to Griffith Park’s Old Zoo, ISC has focused on diversity in theater trying to reach out to multi-generations and backgrounds. Tonight’s performance is “She Stoop’s to Conquer” by Oliver Goldsmith. You can check the schedule for other performances, such as Macbeth and As You Like It.  They even offer pre-show performances by Los Angeles Artists on certain days so check the calendar and get there early to experience the entire event in its full capacity.
